Wranglers have an issue with the frame rusting at the rear leaf spring shackle mount area. Moisture and gets trapped around the rubber leaf spring bushings, while sand, salt and mud gets trapped inside the hollow frame rails, usually resulting in total rust-through all the way to the spring mounts. A serious problem common to CJ’s is frame rust at the leaf spring shackle mount area. There is a rubber body mount located above the rear frame section that retains moisture and allows it to slowly seep into the frame rail. Sand and mud also get trapped inside the hollow frame rails, resulting in total rust-through.
